Registering a Litter of Puppies
With The SSBA
(Process Overview)

SSBA

 BREEDER:

The Breeder completes the SSBA Litter Application.

If the Litter's Sire/Dam are SSBA Registered, be sure to list their Full Names and Titles, SSBA Registration Numbers and DNA Numbers on the SSBA Litter Application.

If either/both parents are not SSBA Registered, also provide the following items:

* Copy of permanent registration papers from other Registry
* DNA proof of parentage
* Passing hip certification
* Completed SSBA Dominant & Recessive form

Mail the completed SSBA Litter Application and pictures, additional documentation for Sire/Dam (as appropriate) and fees (in $USD$, payable to the SSBA) to the SSBA Registry.

 SSBA REGISTRY:

After reviewing and confirming the validity of all documentation, the SSBA Registry issues and forwards one copy of the Application for Puppy’s Temporary Registration Certificate for each puppy in the litter, to the Breeder; a copy of the SSBA Litter Placement Form is also sent to the Breeder at this time.

(Note:  Because the Temporary Registration Certificates are blue in color, they are frequently called “Blue Papers.”)

 BREEDER:

With the Blue Papers, the Breeder:

* Confirms the accuracy of the information in Section 1
* Provides additional information and signature in Section 2
* Forwards the appropriate Blue Papers to each Puppy Buyer

The Breeder also completes the SSBA Litter Placement Form, and returns it to the SSBA Registry.

 PUPPY BUYER:

The Puppy Buyer completes Section 3 of the Blue Papers, then forwards

(1)  Completed Blue Papers
(2)  Two pictures of the puppy (one front, one side, both standing)
(3)  $20 USD payable to the SSBA

to the SSBA Registry.
